Chenjiagou Tai Chi Kung Fu School

History and Background

Chenjiagou Tai Chi Kung Fu School is located in Chenjiagou, China, the birthplace of Tai Chi Chuan. Its predecessor, the Northwest Martial Arts Society of Chenjiagou, was founded by Chen Huamei, the 15th-generation descendant of the Chen family, during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. In 1988, it was relocated and reconstructed as Chenjiagou Kung Fu Academy, and renamed Chenjiagou Tai Chi Kung Fu School in 2005.

Location and Facilities

Situated in the northwest of Chenjiagou Village, the school adjoins the main canal of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The school features an elegant environment, complete facilities, professional training, and orderly management. It is equipped with training grounds, weapons, dormitories, a dining hall, a laundry room, and other public amenities, making it an ideal place for self-cultivation and physical fitness.

Studying here offers a comfortable, warm atmosphere infused with the depth, exquisite skill, profound heritage, and rich tradition of Tai Chi. While learning the traditional Chinese art of Tai Chi, students can also experience the authentic local culture of the Central Plains region.

Principal and Chief Coach: Chen Zhaosen

Born into a renowned Tai Chi family, Chen Zhaosen is the 19th-generation descendant of the Chen family and the 11th-generation direct inheritor of Tai Chi Chuan. With authentic martial skills and noble character, he is widely known by the honorific titles "Modern Lord Guan" and "King of the Broadsword."

He has been invited to teach Tai Chi both domestically and internationally since 1979, and served as Head Coach and Principal of Chenjiagou Tai Chi School from 1983 to 2000. Over more than three decades, he has cultivated over 1,000 Tai Chi champions and outstanding coaches, and developed a comprehensive teaching system that tailors instruction to individual aptitudes and produces rapid skill improvement.

Teaching Model and Curriculum

The school is personally instructed by Principal Chen Zhaosen, supported by a strong coaching team. It adopts a small-class teaching model with personalized instruction. Currently, the school offers 16 courses covering various forms, weapons, and health-preserving practices.

Each course progresses step by step from beginner to advanced levels, allowing students to choose according to their own needs and conditions. Customized course combinations are also available upon request. The school offers flexible enrollment, with students able to apply for admission at any time.

National and International Network

The school has established 12 branch schools and 20 training centers across China. It conducts exchanges and cooperation with Tai Chi institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Spain, Southeast Asia, and other countries and regions. Individuals and groups from all walks of life who love Tai Chi culture are warmly welcomed to discuss cooperation.
